AbstractMicrobiostratigraphic studies of upper Dalan and Kangan formations in Lavan section resulted in identification of 116 species belonging to 55 genera of foraminifera and 7 species of alges. Paraglobivalvulina mira assemblage zone, Claraia aurita and Spirorbis phlyctaenae assemblage zones were recorde from upper Dalan and Kangan Formations. In this section, Dalan Formation contains limestone â Dolomitic limestone to calcareous dolomite that often are mixed with anhydrite. The researche indicate an age of Dzhulfian for the upper part of the Dalan Formation and it seems that the Dorashamian stage, the latest part of Permian, has not been present indicating an important gap. It seems that the extinction of fauna in latest Permian is related to uplifting of basin and lack of sedimentation or erosional processes. The Kangan deposits also classified as dolomite to calcareous dolomite and shale that sometimes have been observed with interlayers of anhydrite . These lay on Permian deposits with an unconformity and slight variation of fauna indicates the age of Anisian.     Â
